Ojas (IN)

Ojas

Ojas is a multitalented artist, an excellent percussionist, painter and a graphic designer. In 1973 he was born in an artist family in Delhi, India. In very early age he started painting and started playing music in folk events like Kirtan and in traditional festivals and rituals. Later he studied fine arts/painting (realistic, surrealistic, modern art), photography and acting.

In 1995 he came to the Osho Commune in Pune and got deeply inspired by the uniqueness and the energy of the live-music. African, Brazilian, Latin, Indian, Oriental, Jazz and many more styles of music were played by brilliant musicians from all over the world. He became there a part of the Osho Institute of Music and Celebration and started his musical journey as a percussionist. Being around 9 years in a creative and meditative environment of the commune, and with the support of so many musicians,he gained a tremendous experience in World Music.

Today Ojas is a great innovative percussionist and composer in World Music. He is enriched with Afro-Cuban, Latin, African, Indian, Jazz, Sufi and oriental music styles. His countless live gigs, concerts and studio-recording experience also with many renowned international musicians make him a musician who can tune smoothly in all kinds of music situations. One of his specialities is to play music for Dancing, Yoga and Meditations. Ojas lives in Cologne, Germany. He is giving concerts, performances, dancing events (Dancing Drums). He is available also for giving Drum-Percussion and Didgeridoo lessons. It maybe a performance or a music lesson, his playful and alive attitude creates always beautiful energy and a great atmosphere.

Instruments, which he plays in his performances: Didgeridoos, Indian Tablas, Cajon, Congas, Bongos, African Djembes and Bass drums, Duff, Darbuka, Udu, Kalimbas, Sansula, Singing Bowls, Gongs, Chimes, Xylophone, Balaphone, Brazilian Berimbao, Drum-Kit, Jew's Harps, Ocean Drums, countless percussions, Keyboard, Tanpura and Surmandal.

The passion for new sounds and effects has inspired Ojas to create an extraordinary collection of music instruments from all over the world.
